How a Digital Twin boosts vessel performance
There are several ways to monitor vessel performance, but the traditional methods are not sufficient.
You could try to keep up with the ship efficiency by checking the noon-reports, but this will be based on manual data-input, report in hindsight and based on up to 24-hour averages.
Alternatively, you could install sensors on board, but these are both expensive and time consuming to install and calibrate. Also, no historical data is available. And installing sensors are no option to charterers.
But most important, both methods are not able to normalise for weather effects. As weather is always impacting vessel performance, analysing voyages or comparing vessel performance over time without determining weather effects is an impossible task.
We developed a novel approach to performance monitoring, while quantifying the effects of weather. Using our unique, in-house developed Digital Twin concept, we now can monitor any vessel, any voyage, any period, in any weather.
And the good thing for charterers - we do not require any hardware on board. Within 1 hour, we can start tracking any vessel while considering all the critical parameters, such as weather effects, ship characteristics, drafts and speed.
Also, we have up to 4 years of historical data available, for any vessel. No need to wait to get results.
